She told reporters that she feared the 63-year-old might develop PTSD after the fatal shooting that killed the 42-year-old cinematographer on the set of his latest film.
Speaking to the New York Post, she said that she escaped to Vermont to find peace with her husband.
“I brought Alec up here because we have to mourn Halyna’s death,” she admitted.
“Alec had a really traumatic thing happen, and I am trying to limit the PTSD.
“You look at what happens to soldiers and police officers when something like this happens, it’s traumatic. We just came up here for quiet.”
Alec also spoke on camera on Saturday for the first time since the incident.
In video footage obtained by TMZ, the actor who was with wife and their children, approached the photographers after he claimed they had frightened his family.
He said he is “not allowed to make any comments because it’s an ongoing investigation,” and said he’d been told by the Sheriff’s Department he wasn’t able to “answer any questions”.
He did however describe Halyna as his friend and said he has been in “constant contact” with her family.
“I met with her husband Matthew and her son. They guy is overwhelmed with grief. It’s something that… there are incidental accidents on film sets from time to time, but nothing like this,” the actor explained.
He called the incident a “one in a trillion event”, and said Halyna’s husband is in shock as he and their nine-year-old son try to deal with the aftermath of the tragedy.
