I know this may come across as insensitive, but I really mean it the best way possible. Have you considered if your buns quality of life outweighs the negative?
hi friend, [this](https://journeyspet.com/pet-quality-of-life-scale-calculator/) website provides a scale to access your pet’s quality of life. I hope it is helpful, best of luck
Hello! My 10.5-year-old bunny’s condition became worse since my [previous post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Rabbits/comments/q13g1h/help_with_arthrosis_full_story_in_the_comments)… Now both her hind legs are immobilised and her front left one is not stable at all. She can drag herself across her playpen but she sometimes tilts and falls on one side and cannot get up.
In the evening I’m making a blanket nest and putting her inside so she can be comfortable and stay inside, close to her water and food while we’re asleep. I use disposable pads for her playpen – they might not provide the best grip but at least her butt and legs are not soaked in pee. I’m washing her butt every other day (to not stress her too much every day). Her butt area is shaved so she doesn’t get too dirty. I also apply Dermazin (cream for burns and other wounds) where her skin is irritated. The last couple of days her tummy has been a bit bloated although she eats, drinks, poops and pees. I’m giving her Espumisan (baby gas drops) and Degan (Metoclopramide) as adviced by my vet. I’m also giving her baby drops with vitamin B complex (without sugar).
I’ve never had experience with a disabled bunny, any advice would be helpful!
Do you think your bunny is still having a good quality of life? Bunnies live in the now, they don’t dream of tomorrow so quality is way more important than quantity.
Keep in mind that even our pet bunnies are prey animals, they will try to hide discomfort as long as they can.
I am so sorry this is happening to you and your bunny. This is always the hardest part of owning a pet. You did everything to make your bunny as comfortable as possible, I don’t think there is anymore you could do for a bunny in this condition.
If this was my bunny for me it would be time to say goodbye.
I’m a vet nurse and have a bunny of my own. He is my entire world as I’m sure she is to you. When you’re debating the heartbreaking decision to relieve her of suffering and pain forever, please know that your vet will always be happy to speak to you and guide you through the decision making. They understand her medical history and what you’re both going through. Other than yourself, your vet is the one person who can help you with this decision and I highly recommend speaking with them – having a vet tell you you’re making the right decision and it’s for the best, or that they think she can hang on for a little longer while you gather yourself and have that extra little bit of time together, is one of the things that helps and assures owners the most.
I’m so sorry you’re going through this, even though I’ve assisted with countless euthanasias as a nurse, as an owner it’s always a heartbreaking decision and it never gets easier. It’s odd to say but euthanasias are very peaceful for the animal and almost beautiful to relieve them of their pain. Whatever it may be, I’m sure you’ll make the right choice and I wish you and your beautiful girl all the very best x.
My bun Bob had a cyst under one eye and one behind the other we didn’t know about until it was too late. We went through 6 months of antibiotics and vet visits. I couldn’t let go and he suffered because of it. I still break down in trears whenever I think of him. I did everything I could to save him and in the end it wasn’t good enough.
I’m not going to tell you what I think you should do with your bun. I just want you to know what I did with mine and how it affected me now.
Will say a prayer 🙏! I’m so sorry I hope there is a vet who can help?? He’s so special and you obviously care for him so well! I really hope there is a positive solution! Sending u & your baby love and prayers ❤️🙏
